Luanda Casella is a Brazilian writer and theatre maker trying to rescue the art of storytelling from its current mediatized doomed destiny. Blending ethics with irony, her work exposes language constructions in the rhetoric of violence, mechanisms of manipulation of discourses, unreliable narration in fiction and in communication processes, and ultimately the experience of readers and their biases. Luanda’s work has been shown in several venues and festivals around world, among which, Spielart (Munich), Edinburg International Festival, Het Theaterfestival (Ghent), Kaserne (Basel). With her last solo piece Short of Lying she’s won the Sabam theatre writing prize at Theater Aan Zee Festival, Belgium.
